Born in Medellín .Colombia. Gabriel is an artist, university professor and researcher. He studied fine arts at the University of Antioquia, Doctor in Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid and with a postdoctoral degree of the National University of Córdoba (Argentina).His artistic projects have been exhibited internationally. For him the camera is “A device that in the full dimension of magical thinking, gives its user the power to capture reality and appropriate it. A power to capture us and also transform us into an image. To be image” A ser imagen – Hacer imagen Series. 

Since 2012 and until now Gabriel Mario Velez has been chosen by the Ministry of National Education as an advisor and coordinator of the Arts and Humanities Exhibition Room. Currently (since 2016) he is the Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Antioquia Colombia.
